Chipotle Honey Baked Chicken Wings Recipe

Updated: Mar 22, 2021

I absolutely love these chicken wings for 3 reasons:

  1. These wings are spicy, tangy, and sweet

  2. These wings are baked in the oven

  3. These wings are still crispy to the crunch!

Though they take a while to bake in the oven, the amount of effort you need to make this dish is super minimal - the main components require tossing the wings in baking powder and salt, rotating them in the oven, and then tossing them in the homemade sauce.

I don't know what it is - but when you watch the cooking process for the wings you'll be able to see for yourself that the baking powder combined with the skin of the wings and some heat creates these blisters around the chicken wings, which in turn create a crispy surface area. And trust me when I tell you THESE WINGS TASTE FRIED. So much so, I find it so hard to order wings at restaurants know, knowing full well I can have an equally tasty, healthier version at home.

The sauce is very simply made of store-bought chipotle paste, fresh lime juice, ketchup, and a dash of cayenne pepper. It is really such a great blend of acid, spice, sweet, and tart! The stickiness of both the chipotle paste and the ketchup make coating the wings so easy, because the sauce just sticks to the crispy texture once they are baked off.
